Peabody are looking for Housing Support Worker  to join their team based in our  Laindon  supported housing hostels, for single people and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will be working on a  part time, permanent basis (30 hours per week)  in return, you will receive a  competitive rate of £19,463 per annum.

Basildon Temporary Housing service has 36 properties for households who are at risk of homelessness or have been homeless. We work with young people, single adults and families. Some will move on to social housing whilst others may be found intentionally homeless and will move to the private rented sector.

About the Housing Support Worker role:

You will form part of the 24 hours, 7 days a week rolling rota. This includes some early starts and sleep in duties per week so you will require a flexible approach to working.

You will provide a support service to meet the needs of licensees whilst they live within the service consisting of 10 self-contained flats, 7 bungalows and 19 bedsit rooms with shared facilities within Laindon, Basildon. The team works closely with Basildon Borough Council to facilitate move-on into appropriate accommodation.

Key Responsibilities as our Housing Support Worker:

  • Providing/offering support to an individual tenant consistent with the Peabody principles
  • Promoting the integration of the tenant into the local community
  • Ensuring that the tenant’s needs are met by liaising with other organisations
  • Ensuring that the participation of the tenant in the management of all household tasks
  • Taking an active part in tenant involvement
  • Assisting in the coordination of shift activities
  • Participating and contributing to own appraisal and supervision sessions
  • What we’re looking for in our Housing Support Worker:

  • Good knowledge of welfare benefits, Risk assessments, support planning processes, and safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children
  • Able to promote independent living skills, advice and guidance around tenancy management, employment education, and training 
  • Good communication skills and computer skills are vital
  • Ability to keep accurate records and manage a caseload
  • Ability to work as part of a team
