We are working with a Global Company within the Telecoms sector who have a permanent role via West London for an experienced Network Systems Engineer.
The role will be to support and grow the clients European Network. The split of the role will be 60% network (supporting the WAN, branch offices, and core LAN + Firewalls) and 40% Linux.
Support and troubleshoot network problems including system, network and security elements.
Produce documentation including network diagrams and procedure documents.
Design and implement solutions based on requirements gathered from multiple sources.
Work with MPLS provider as a customer to assist problem determination.
Identify network design issues including high availability and redundant configurations.
Be able to identify network problems and issues with the use of network sniffers such as Wireshark.
Configure Cisco network Switches, Routers, ASA Firewalls, Checkpoint Firewalls, Pulse Secure Remote Access VPN.
Collaborate with local and remote colleagues
Role Requirements
Understanding and knowledge of, OSPF, BGP, IPSEC, VLAN, STP, HSRP, VRRP, WAN and SD-WAN technologies.
Understanding and knowledge of TCP/IP. Able to identify network problems and issues with the use of network sniffers like Wireshark.
Understanding of wireless protocols and management of corporate wireless networks.
Knowledge of other vendors would be an advantage.
Working knowledge of Linux (in particular Debian and Suse) and applications such as Apache, Squid, Bind, Network Automation.
Configuring Cisco network Switches, Routers, ASA Firewalls, Checkpoint Firewalls, Pulse Secure Remote Access VPN.
Knowledge of IP Addressing & subnetting.
Knowledge of OSPF routing.
Knowledge of LAN technologies, VLANs, VTP, Spanning Tree, DHCP, Layer2 switching.
Knowledge of security on IOS (access lists).
Some onsite via the data centre based in West London from time to time, with some of which, may be at short notice.
