Support Worker

Clients are currently both male and female, aged 18 years plus

The scheme has 20 beds and supports people with an offending background or homeless people who may not have offended in the past but are at risk of offending due to their current vulnerable housing situation. The scheme aims to reduce re-offending through the delivery of high-quality accommodation and intensive housing management.

Shifts – Mon-Fri – 7am-3pm or 1pm -9pm

  • In your new role, you will:

  • Support clients to settle into their new accommodation, completing all necessary paperwork, managing rent accounts, completing Support plans and Risk management plan, supporting and advising clients to apply for Housing Benefit (where eligible), managing arrears, supporting clients with housing applications for Move On Accommodation, accepting and processing repairs requests, overseeing repairs contractors on site, and undertaking necessary health & safety inspections
  • Inspect void properties, arranging for any refurbishment works, minimising void episodes and ensuring an effective lettings process
  • Provide intensive, high level practical support in response to crisis/relapse in partnership with other agencies
  • Support the Scheme Manager / Deputy Scheme Manager in developing GreenSquareAccord’s ambitions to promote a Psychologically Informed Environment
  • Developing service users independent living skills, and opportunities to learn, work and take part in health promoting and social activities
  • Supporting clients to stay safe and secure in their homes and in their communities
  • Supporting clients to access relevant health and social care services
  • Promoting clients’ financial inclusion and take up of benefits
  • You will ideally have:

  • 1 years’ experience supporting vulnerable people within a housing or community setting
  • Knowledge of the Criminal justice system
  • Knowledge of housing sector, in particular supported housing, and housing benefits
  • Clear understanding of managing risk of harm and risk of re-offending
  • Understanding and implementation of fairness, equality and diversity activities

  • The ability to offer advice and guidance
  • The ability to provide practical support that meets clients needs
  • The ability to respond to a crisis whist remaining calm
