Description

The job itself

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Housing Services Section in delivering front line homeless service to the public. This is a time of change for Social Housing Providers which will involve changes in the services offered and the interaction with consumers. We are looking for a person who is keen to not only carry out casework with homeless households on a day to day basis but also seek to improve the homeless service delivered and the options available to those facing homelessness in the future. The post will be based at the Town Hall in Bridlington however the Council anticipates that the successful candidate will work in a blended way combining both working from home, from other centres and the office and is keen to offer flexibility to this role where this benefits both residents and officers.

The work is challenging and varied, and will involve working with the rest of the team regarding emergency accommodation, housing allocations and void property control, providing housing advice/options and taking the lead with requests for assistance made under the provisions of the homeless persons legislation. The work will involve liaising with agencies and organisations both in the private and public sector.

The successful applicant must have a sound knowledge of housing legislation and policy and have extensive experience in Housing, however we are keen to help officers to develop and will offer both professional and specialist training to the right candidate.
