One of the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Young Parent’s Service Manager to join our Support and Housing team based in Greenwich – Abbey Wood . Together with our partners, we support thousands of homeless young people each year.

As a Young Parent’s Service Manager you will:

  • Promote a vibrant culture with an uncompromising commitment to excellence
  • Ensure supported accommodation services across a number of sites in the area.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to individual and team development through effective management of staff.
  • Line manage staff (4 Supported Housing Officers and 1 Night Supported Officer) to ensure that performance targets, competence and confidence within the team
  • Motivate and develop the staff team to deliver a consistently high quality needs led and responsive service to young adults in order to support their personal development and ultimately keep themselves and their children safe.
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality property and housing management service to young parents, which supports them to budget effectively and pay their rent and household bills.
  • Able to work flexibly and in line with the rota.
  • Actively support team to undertake cleaning and decoration tasks
  • Ensure team reports all repairs and maintenance issues promptly.
  • Work positively and proactively with all local stakeholders including commissioners, providers, local community groups and young adults.
  • What We’d Be Looking For From You…

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to accurately maintain all file and information recording systems in an accurate and timely manner and manager workload to meet a range of conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to understand the nature of young parents income maximisation, budgeting skills and pricing, and to plan and support with education, employment and training opportunities.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of welfare rights and other legal information that may impact on vulnerable client groups
  • Able to deal with challenging situations in a calm and effective manner: managing risk and health and safety as appropriate
