The Salvation Army forms part of the Christian church and boasts an extensive social remit, providing a range of social and community services, including services for children and the elderly, those trapped in modern-day slavery, homeless people, individuals struggling with addiction, and people seeking employment.

Key Responsibilities: A The role of Cleaning and Catering Supervisor is to oversee the cleaning and catering services within the Lifehouse. This will include ensuring the Lifehouse is cleaned regularly and cleaning staff are given the necessary training and support to ensure that all cleaning duties are undertaken within an agreed timeframe. Recognising that within an accommodation service the Lifehouse is the home of our clients, it is necessary to ensure that work is undertaken to a high standard and in a professional manner.

You will also supervise and participate in the work of the catering staff and ensure that training is provided where necessary. You will ensure cost effective use of all cleaning and catering materials whilst maintaining the agreed standard of hygiene in the Lifehouse.

You will manage a team of 8 staff.

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

  • NVQ or equivalent in cleaning and catering
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
  • Menu planning and budgeting
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours
  • Ability to form good working relationships with staff
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
