SQL Database Administrator

As the successful SQL Database Administrator, you will manage and advance the capabilities of the business by providing support and maintenance solutions for database systems. The position includes providing new architectures and scalability solutions to ever growing business and data processing needs. You will promote technical excellence within the team, have a working knowledge of best practices, and be comfortable working as part of cross functional team, supporting the wider business. You will also be comfortable working with a distributed team across a number of different locations.

As the successful SQL Database Administrator, you’ll be joining an experienced, fast-moving team who continue to explore new technologies, tools & techniques to both grow this global platform and to service the growing needs of the business that the platform supports.

You will be responsible for database operations and continuous improvement, to provide expert advice and guidance on database management good practice, driving operational excellence to ensure systems remain highly available, reliable and resilient, and complying with all Company Information Services policies and standards.

To be successful in the SQL Database Administrator you will need to bring a strong mixture of the following skills and experience:

  • Full experience of SQL Server mid-senior level on production systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of implementations and management of high availability solutions like Clustering, AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Replication.
  • In-depth knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning, Backup/Restore strategies, partitioning, InMemory OLTP, SSIS and SSRS.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills for software, hardware, and related network communications
  • Support software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures.
  • Manage production, QA and development database environments.
  • Working experience of any other RDBMS (like MySQL, PostgreSQL) a benefit.
  • Communication skills, enthusiasm, and able to work on own initiative.
  • Time management skills.
  • Bright, keen, and very delivery focussed.
  • Willing to be part of an on-call team providing 24/7 support

    This role will be based in South West London for 3 days a week and working from home for the rest and will pay anything up to £70, for the right person.
