The post holder will project manage ad hoc digital projects and work closely with the Production Manager to ensure that digital content is shared globally to targeted stakeholder groups in a timely manner.

The Salvation Army International work across 132 countries worldwide running charity shops, operating shelters for the homeless and disaster relief, and humanitarian aid to developing countries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Head of Communications and other section members, the Digital Communications Specialist will be responsible for drafting a digital media plan and creating and scheduling social media and web-based content in a timely manner
  • Familiar with techniques for both targeting audiences and techniques for measuring engagement and reach, the post-holder will draft and distribute monthly Digital Media Reports, which in turn will inform future digital engagement strategies.
  • Within defined parameters, the post holder will support the mission of the ‘Mission of the Salvation Army’ and in particular IHQ, by adding the voice of the International Salvation Army to trending social media subjects, adhering at all times to the IHQ Social Media Policy.
  • Managing the project lifecycle of digital projects and other ad-hoc projects within the Communications function.
  • Attending weekly 1:1 meetings with the Head of Communications and completing a monthly work completion report.
  • Establishing and maintaining key relationships with stakeholders and colleagues, especially their international equivalents who may be based overseas.

Person Specification:

  • The post holder will need to function well under pressure, meeting tight deadlines.
  • The post holder will have exceptional digital audio-visual production capabilities.
  • The post holder will be competent and confident in the use of standard Microsoft Creative Suite and Office programmes. Ability to create film and animation will be a distinct advantage.
  • The post holder will be familiar with measurement techniques, and able to target audiences through digital channels. A familiarity with the implications of GDPR for the digital sphere will be an advantage.
  • Able to routinely hit deadlines whilst maintaining close attention to detail.
  • The post holder will be a highly competent digital production specialist, able to organise all the production requirements of digital creative content.
