An opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Acute Medicine Consultant has become available. This university hospital is one of the largest acute medicine institutions in the UK, serving over , people across southwest England. This organisation is at the forefront of medicine research, conducting studies in a variety of medical specialties to enhance patient outcomes and treatment quality. The department is undergoing redevelopment for the acute and emergency medicine pathways. The successful candidate will be a key part of this process, leading the redesign and redevelopment and bringing innovative ideas to further improve patient care. 

Job Overview

There are two acute medicine consultant positions available at each of their two largest sites. There is also the option for a substantive or locum (12mths) contract. You will not be expected to take part in the general medicine on-call rota however, acute physicians are required to undertake a short day weekend on-call rota (around 1 in 6-7).

The post holder will be expected to lead ward rounds, direct the management of patients, perform practical procedures, teach both junior medical and other staff, attend multidisciplinary meetings, take part in the governance activity of the department, participate in the management and administration of the service and liaise with other professionals both within and outside the Trust as required. 

What you’ll need to apply?

  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Inclusion on the specialist register (in AIM or GIM) or eligible within six months of interview date.
  • NHS experience is a requirement for this position
