We have an opportunity for a Band 3 Peer Support Worker, 18 months fixed term contract, in the Rough Sleepers Mental Health Project (RAMHP). The post holder will work in the Hackney area.

The role of Peer Support Worker has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of rough sleeping and of using mental health services. Through sharing their own experiences, Peer Support Workers will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others.

Main duties of the job

This role requires an understanding of the health needs of rough sleepers and the challenges homeless people face in health settings. The Peer Support Worker will support people to navigate health and rough sleeping systems, they will develop an understanding of what the barriers are for the person and what would help the person access healthcare.

  • ELFT Accredited Peer Support Worker Training
  • Commitment to obtain underpinning knowledge through work based learning and mandatory training, (including accredited peer support worker training if not previously undertaken)
  • NVQ3 or equivalent experience
  • Good spoken and written English

  • Own personal lived experience of mental health difficulties.
  • Own personal experience of accessing secondary mental health services.
