Pharmacy Support Worker – Support Services (Band 2 progressing to Band 3 after achievement of level 2 qualification and related experience)

We are offering an opportunity for the right candidate to step into the exciting field of hospital pharmacy services. As a Pharmacy Support Worker, you will learn the essential core skills and behaviour’s of pharmacy professionals by embarking on a level 2 apprenticeship qualification in Pharmacy Service Skills. Once qualified and after a period of experience you will progress to Senior Pharmacy Support Worker (Band 3).
We welcome applications from individuals with or without pharmacy experience. Holders of an appropriate level 2 pharmacy qualification will not be required to undertake the level 2 apprenticeship and will progress to Senior Pharmacy Support Worker after a period of appropriate experience and completion of all relevant competencies as listed in the person specification.

This varied role will involve a rotation between our Stores and Dispensary departments.
Main duties of the job
Learning how to label and dispense individual patient medication is core in the dispensary. The role also involves some clerical duties such as prescription filing, booking in prescriptions, passing invoices for payment, answering the telephone etc. Whilst working in stores you will be an essential part of stock distribution assisting in minimising waste at pharmacy and ward level and saving nursing time.At ward levelafter training, you will regularly visit dedicated ward areas to monitor stock levels and expiry dates, working closely with nursing staff. Manual handling of stock and a significant amount of physical work are key parts of this role.
