Job summary

Novum Health Partnership is looking for an enthusiastic and caring GP to join our team to cover maternity leave. We are looking for a GP to work between 4-8 sessions. We are a dynamic team across 2 sites. At Rushey Green, we provide specialist services for the homeless, asylum seekers, substance misuse and for the special allocation service for the whole of South East and North East London. Both sites are training and teaching practices. We also provide training for Physician Associates. The person we are looking for will be a team-player, providing medical services to a high standard. If the candidate is interested in progressing their career, the right candidate will have the opportunity to have a development session, either in research, teaching or service development. The right candidate will also have the opportunity to stay on as a permanent member of the team.

We provide comprehensive services at both sites, including sexual and reproductive health, counselling, pharmacy and phlebotomy.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a GP for 4-8 sessions to cover maternity leave starting in April. There can be a mix of on-site and remote working. At the moment, we have a duty team system who are on-site and sees patients who have been triaged. The duty team consists of a Duty GP and 1-2 Duty Physician Associates. The Duty PA take the bulk of on the day clinical administration, including prescription queries, reports and document viewing. We have worked hard to reduce clinical administration for the GPs. We have a team of administrators who also assist in reducing the paper workload.

Each remote session has 16-17 telephone and face to face appointments. The Duty GP has 5 telephone appointments and 6 face to face slots which only GPs/PAs can book into. There is one hour administrative and supervision time built into the session.

There are regular clinical and practice meetings and a Whatsapp support chatgroup.

About us

Novum is made up of 2 fully merged practices, both with their own individual character. Rushey Green has a long history of looking after a particularly vulnerable population. Located in Central Lewisham, it is very deprived. Baring Road has a older population, is quieter and more affluent. Our practice is inclusive and caring. We work closely with our PCN with 5 other practices and Lewisham is well supported by our federation, One Health Lewisham.

Each site is supported by a full nursing team, with nurse practitioners. We have 5 Physician Associates working alongside the medical team. Our lead nurse also works for the CCG. There are 4 GP partners and 7 salaried GPs and 2 GP registrars.

We are keen to develop IT and find innovative ways of working and patients have multiple choices in which to access our services.
