Consultant Care of the Elderly Physician

We have recently recruited a new Consultant Care of the Elderly Physician and are now looking to expand and develop the consultant workforce within Care of the Elderly even further. As part of this expansion, we want to welcome another consultant to join our friendly, dynamic and enthusiastic team of geriatric physicians based at Scarborough Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post is offered as 10 programmed activities (PAs) over five days and is currently working toward the implementation of a seven day week Care of the Elderly Frailty service in 2022. We are open to discuss any specific or specialised job plans that candidates may desire, including flexible/less than full time working. The department strives to achieve a collective work ethos to help to maintain long term sustainability to work-life balance.   • Hold a medical qualification registered with the GMC
  • Hold a license to practice with the General Medical Council
  • CCT in Geriatric / General Medince

Desirable

  • oSubstantive NHS experience

Mentoring and Teaching

Essential

  • Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
  • Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings

Clinical practice/ competence

Essential

  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge of clinical governance practice
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and skill required for gaining UK CCT in Geriatric Medicine +/- General Medicine

Desirable

  • Specialist interest in Orthogeriatric Medicine
  • Experience of delivering community based geriatric services
  • Experience of delivering frailty service within an acute setting
