We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Health Visitors to join our service and work as part of our vulnerable children’s team. The team delivers a public health focused service to some of our most vulnerable families within Walsall (e.g., Asylum seekers, Refuges, migrants, homeless, sex workers, drug & alcohol, victims of Domestic Abuse, residential parenting assessment placements and temporary accommodation).

The service is part of the Community Division as part of Walsall’s continued progress towards integrated working with our local partners. It is an opportunity to work within a Trust which has advanced levels of integrated working and a commitment to maintaining excellence within our Community Teams.

The Division has recently undertaken a review of the service and has a plan to ensure that the needs of the families of Walsall continue to be met as well as ensuring that the Service can evolve by developing and supporting all of its staff to meet these needs.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work with a skilled mix team to deliver the Healthy Child Programme to some of our most vulnerable families within Walsall (e.g., Asylum seekers, Refuges, migrants, homeless, sex workers, drug & alcohol, victims of Domestic Abuse, residential parenting assessment placements and temporary accommodation).

The postholder will plan, implement and evaluate health enhancing activities through home visiting, community development, clinic, workshops, technology and parenting support. Focus on early identification of children and families needing additional targeted support through use of assessment process if required to include other members of the multidisciplinary team and working with our partner agencies to provide Early Help, support children in need or those who need safeguarding. The post holder will delegate and supervise work of non registrants and junior staff and act up in the absence of the team leader.

Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Act as a named Health Visitor for this defined team caseload.

To develop a team caseload profile, assessing needs as Universal, Targeted and Specialised interventions.
