Job summary

Exciting opportunities have become available for experience Band 5 Nurses looking for a career change and great opportunities for progression. The post will require the applicant to be IV and cannulation competent. The applicant does not need to be chemotherapy competent but willing to undertake the course very quickly after starting the role.

Ward 35 consists of 31 beds treating patients with complex and acute care needs. The Oncology ward cares for adults receiving systemic anti cancer treatments, supportive end of life care, symptom management as well as any supportive treatments. The ward is well supported by the multidisciplinary team and a robust training programme is in place for those new to the area.

Main duties of the job

1. Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.

2. Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team including situations where difficulties in comprehension occur.

3. A competent practitioner, teaching, assessing and supervising/providing mentorship to appropriate students or junior staff.

4. Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients and management of a team, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated, involving patients and users.
