Morgan Hunt is working with a well known charity and have a current opportunity for a Homelessness Prevention Caseworker – Manchester city centre on a temporary basis. For further information about this position please apply.

Key Responsibilities:

To contribute to the development, resourcing and delivery of the Homelessness

Prevention Service. To provide advice and support to young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Key Duties will include:

Working with young people (often presenting in crisis) on a casework basis, completing holistic needs/risk assessments to identify the varying needs of young people

Completing comprehensive support plans aimed at addressing the needs of young people – with a focus on personal, social, learning, health and work related issues

Empowering young people to actively participate in meeting their needs and advocating on their behalf where necessary

Providing short term mediation/conciliation to young people and their families to enable them to return home/re-engage with their family

Making referrals to accommodation providers and relevant support services to enable young people to access and maintain accommodation

Working in collaboration with other agencies in the best interests of young people.

Attending multi agency meetings including “child in need” meetings and “case

conferences”

Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding issues in relation to young people and ensuring that any safeguarding issues are identified, addressed where appropriate and that safeguarding referrals are made where necessary.

Making use of relevant legislation and local authority practice in relation to the needs of young people, with a specific focus on the Children Act and homelessness legislation

An Enhanced DBS Check will be required for this role.

Ideally you will have experience of working in this sector and possess at least NVQ Level 2- 3 or equivalent professional qualification in a related field
