Job responsibilities

As a deputy operational manager, the post holder will support the delivery of a safe and effective roving vaccination service across BSW, at multiple locations and sites, as determined to meet identified need.

As a qualified Clinical Prescriber this role will facilitate the administration of multiple vaccines and the post-holder will be required to actively promote and engage in MECC activities, conversations and escalations.

The role can be a Doctor, Nurse or Pharmacist

Job Summary

The post holder will undertake a clinical supervisory role, overseeing a team of Immunisers and Clinical Support staff, as well as deputising for the Operational Manager in his/her absence.

In particular, the post holder will be responsible for supporting:

• Coordination and oversight of screening and vaccination delivery
  • Including rostering of clinical and non-clinical staff
• Provision of adequate leadership and support to all staff and citizens.
• Clinical escalations of vaccination staff.
• Clinical review of patient safety conditions and identification of potential clinical risks and concerns.
• Ensuring the effective delivery of care including undertaking the provision of specialist advice, structured education and ongoing support to the service staff and the population.
• This role forms an integral part of vaccination delivery within the BaNES, Swindon and Wilshire (BSW) system.

The post holder will support the Hub Manager and their team to ensure that their workstream of programmes are planned and managed effectively and take the lead in assisting in their successful delivery

Person Specification

Knowledge, Training and Experience

Essential

• Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
• Current immunisation training and experience at a senior level
• Member of relevant professional body (GMC, NMC, GPhC)
• Qualified Clinical Prescriber and on register as such
• Post-graduate degree in Management Studies or equivalent
• Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
• Evidence of continued professional development
• Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments
• Experience of managing risks and reporting

Desirable

• Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence at SMT level
• Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes
• Understanding of the public sector
• Demonstrated experience in a Healthcare environment

• Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required
• Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders
