Come and join a stable, democratic team of salaried GPs in a well-established, forward thinking NHS GP surgery, based in Bristol City Centre.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated GP with an interest in the unique challenges and rewards of inner city working.

You will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients

Main duties of the job

You will be available to undertake a proportionate share of a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealingwith queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashionMaking professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problemsScreening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illnessIn consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health Providing counselling and health education Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriateRecording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standardsCollecting data for audit purposesCompiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriateIn general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

About us

Broadmead Medical Centre is a dynamic training practice with a broad demographic, current list size of 12,000. We provide the usual broad range of primary care services, particularly to students and young families, working people living in the City Centre, homeless and more vulnerable people, international patients and a smaller elderly cohort. This is a vibrant and happy place to work, with a real sense of family and teamwork. We have a shared passion to reduce health inequality.The practice environment is mutually supportive with one hour daily protected time 1-2pm for peer discussion and practice meetings. There is an excellent team of Nurses that the GPs work alongside,strong support from a Practice Pharmacist Team, Physician’s Associate, Podiatrist, Dietician, Social Prescribers and Bristol Drugs Project shared care workers. Our Practice Manager has been with the practice since it opened in 2009 and is supported by an Operations’ Manager and an excellent back office administrative team. We have embraced workflow optimisation and reception navigation models to support patient flow and to help lighten the GP workload.We have received a BMA ‘Best Practice Team’ runner up award and have always received an ‘Outstanding’, for the care of vulnerable people in our CQC inspection reports. We are keen to promote sustainability in healthcare and recently gained the RCGP Green Impact Scheme, Bronze Award.
