Job summary

We wish to recruit 2x 4- 8 session Salaried GPs to join our Practice in Deptford, Lewisham.

We are a 15,000patient training practice based in the Waldron Health Centre, a modern,spacious facility in the heart of Deptford, North Lewisham. Deptford is adynamic, diverse, culturally rich and rapidly changing neighbourhood withpockets of deprivation alongside new developments. We are situated directlyopposite New Cross station and within walking distance of Deptford DLR,Deptford station and New Cross Gate station.

Our practice values kindness,approachability, friendliness and compassion, alongside high standards ofclinical care. Our working environment is supportive and collaborative. We area training practice and have a diverse clinical team including Advanced NursePractitioners and an internal Clinical Pharmacist. We also teach medicalstudents and GP registrars. We very much work as a team and encourage and valueeveryone’s contributions, no matter what their level of experience.

Main duties of the job

We have large numbers of students in our population and we have a close link with Goldsmiths University. We are committed to healthcare for all and to ensure everyone benefits we make special efforts to reach out to those patients who society disadvantages. We run a dedicated clinic for the homeless, for asylum seekers and a service for drugs and alcohol addiction. Some of our salaried doctors are involved in research and community advocacy to improve access to health care for marginalised groups.

We are a Gold standard practice for the LGBTQ+ community

You will be part of the duty teamworkingalongside our advanced nurse practitioners. You will also work closely with aclinical team with formal and informal opportunities to discuss patients withthem. You will have an overview of an area of clinical responsibility and youwill be given protected time to devote to this work.

Our partners are active in the CCG andthe PCN and we have a current VTS programme director among us. We encourage ourclinicians to be part of the wider healthcare network.

Job Summary:

The General Practitioner (GP) will act autonomously providing care for patients face to face, telephone consultations and home visits.

Working 4 to 8 clinical sessions per week, were looking for innovative and caring individuals who can demonstrate our Practices values. Job responsibilities:

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • The provision of services commensurate with the PMS contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to practice and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance
  • Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

  • Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA) Refer and signpost service users to most appropriate service for their needs mental health, physical health, social needs
  • To work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping
  • To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development in order to meet the needs of the service.
  • To participate in the audit process, evaluation and implementing plans and practice change in order to meet patient need.
  • Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team and work colleagues.
