The Viral Hepatitis Team has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic Hepatology Testing, Education and Treatment Coordinator to join our team.

Working as part of the South East London Hepatitis Operational Delivery Network programme team, the post holder will support the programme team in the implementation of the HCV CQUIN and the development and implementation of the associated Operational Delivery Network within King’s and associated partners across South East London

The post holder will be responsible for identification of people/groups who would benefit from HCV testing and/or curative treatment for the Hepatitis C Operational Delivery Network (ODN) across South East London, in particular the Lewisham & Greenwich areas

The post holder will also coordinate pathways of care that are individual and person centred. Provide clinical interventions such as Fibro scanning and Phlebotomy in the hospital and the community. Work across South East London to motivate and encourage staff within outreach and community settings drug and alcohol services etc.) to carry out HCV testing.

This is a joint post with Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust, and is hosted by King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The role will predominantly focus on the Lewisham and Greenwich areas of South East London. Flexible and adaptable working in this post is key to ensure the demands and needs of service are met.

Job responsibilities

To undertake case finding initiatives to identify patients with hepatitis C, working with GP practices, laboratory databases and other organisations.

To liaise with patients to encourage them to enter care and to manage their pathway, ensuring a convenient date, time and location time is agreed.

To facilitate the prioritisation of HCV positive individuals by supporting the coordination of assessments at outreach clinics and linkage into care.

To appropriately remind clients of their appointment to facilitate care. This may include sending reminder letters or contacting patients by telephone, or text.

To support the Viral Hepatitis team by taking blood for HCV testing and Fibro scanning patients at outpatient and outreach clinics within south east London.

To motivate and encourage staff within outreach clinics drug and alcohol services etc. to routinely offer HCV testing by capillary or dry blood testing.

To monitor the performance of HCV testing by organisations in the community drug and alcohol and sexual health clinics

To lead the development and implementation of capillary blood test training within HCV outreach clinics. Developing protocol and materials to support the training.

To maintain a record of the HCV test training within the ODN outreach clinics, monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of training.

To be an effective part of the multi-disciplinary team contributing to the departmental objectives and the Hepatitis CQUIN, milestones.

To develop and maintain supportive and effective relationships with ODN partners including community drug and alcohol services, community pharmacists, GP practices, and homeless centres.

To collaborate with HCV clinicians and to promote service improvement and development.

To use patient notes, existing databases, and the hospital systems to confirm patient data is up-to-date and accurate.
