Job summary

As a Housing and Resettlement Worker, you will report to the Deputy Manager or Service Manager in your division, contributing to successfully rehabilitate and reintegrate our residents and participants back into the community. You will provide pathways, support and interventions that will enable successful resettlements and work with internal and external partners, and agencies to achieve the desired outcomes of the service.

Main duties of the job

  • Support a caseload of residents and participants (R&P) and contribute to the development of support plans, risk assessments, and reviews.
  • Participate in and encourage R&Ps to participate in the running and development of projects, social enterprise initiatives, raining, volunteering and work experience.
  • Ensure our R&Ps understand their rights and responsibilities and have access to the right tools and resources.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Attend appointments with residents when required.
  • Recognise signs of deteriorating mental health and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent a crisis.
  • Admin will vary.

Holman House is a semi independent residential located in Bedford offering accommodation for 19 individuals faced with homelessness who are experiencing difficulty with their mental health and complex emotional needs, often coupled with substance abuse and or offending behaviours. We are committed to providing a psychologically informed environment and aim to facilitate restorative justice techniques and conflict resolution within the house to prevent eviction and end the revolving door of homelessness / cycle of supported housing.

Joining us as a Housing and Resettlement Support Worker you will be required to offer support to residents within a PIE framework taking a trauma informed approach to your work and demonstrating strengths based practice.

In return we offer a challenging but rewarding role where you have the opportunity to build meaningful professional relationships with residents over 2-3 years. Working within a small team of 6 passionate individuals committed to best practice. Training online and in person. 4-6 week supervisions and monthly reflective practice.

  • Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behavioursora good understanding of the sector
  • IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
  • Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
  • Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others

What we would like, but not essential:

  • Appropriate professional qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care/Community Justice or professional equivalent
  • Experience of providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role
  • Experience creating co-produced support plans and providing appropriate interventions for service user and liaising with other professionals
