The Role

PRS for Music are seeking a talented and data driven Commercial Development Manager to join us on a 12 month fixed term basis. In this role you will support the delivery of the Commercial Development Department’s requirement to complete a full review of PRS’ live tariffs and will develop, negotiate and implement PRS’ Live Tariffs review and take ownership of producing a comprehensive and detailed analysis of our position, rates and exploration of rights.

 

The successful applicant will have extensive knowledge of live music licensing together with experience in drawing and presenting conclusions from research and insights together with making recommendation and decisions based on own findings

 

The Commercial Department at PRS for Music is the customer facing and revenue generating arm of one of the world’s leading music copyright collectives. We are a UK based team of over 40 individuals who currently generate in excess of £650 million per year for our members through licensing music usage to a wide variety of industries, including; major and independent record labels, music festivals, broadcasters, computer game platforms and publishers and increasingly Web3 and the Metaverse.

Responsibilities

As our Commercial Development Manager, you will support the delivery of the Commercial Development Department’s requirement to complete a full review of PRS’ live tariffs. Including: the development of live tariff policies, pricing and operation. You will take ownership of driving the progress of the project through governance to publication, conduct analysis on a wide spectrum of data and research to support the review.

 

Some of your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Lead the commercial development of the live tariff review through negotiation with key stakeholders, trade bodies, identifying and delivering on any opportunities to optimise pricing and operation of the tariffs.
  • Formulate public consultation, board and committee papers and the respective response summary (when applicable) for the review.
  • Manage the implementation of any changes to the licensing process within PPL PRS by providing all required materials (including, tariff/scheme copy, guide notes, marketing materials, training collateral etc.) and conducting a 3, 6 and 12 month checks to assure anticipated financial and operational benefits of the reviewed licence tariffs have been, and will continue to be, delivered.
  • Deliver high quality market and industry analysis and support development of the underlying analytical frameworks for the ongoing review and development of PRS live tariffs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders including internal staff, Member Committees, Advisory boards, Boards, customers and representative organisations.
  • Influence decision makers in key markets to support our position, with the application of well thought out and comprehensive data
  • Ability to travel to meet customers and stakeholders externally

The Process
Our interview process for this role is simple:

  • First stage interview will take place virtually on MS Teams.

  • Second stage interview will take place in person at our London Bridge Hub.
