We are looking for a Junior Estimator to join our construction fit out client based in Corby.

Roles and Responsibilities – including but not limited to:

  • Prepare and price tenders ready to send with Estimating Manager and Director approval

  • Show creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from subcontractors

  • Assist Submission of 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline

  • Review bid requirements thoroughly and asks follow-up question on every bid

  • Have a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades assigned

  • Develop RFI’s (Request for Information) and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage

  • Assist in Performing a comprehensive analysis for review in tender meeting

  • Create bid lists that fit scope of job, ensuring that we have the right subs for the project

  • Minimise exclusions to the tender by Liaising with client and sub-contractor

  • Include value-engineering ideas on every bid in order to the give the client best value

  • Review awarded tender drawings with Project team and highlight areas of concern

  • Highlighting sub-contractors and materials that require lead times for design and materials

  • Handle all subcontractor interactions in a manner designed to build a long-term relationship

    • The ideal candidate will have :

  • Construction background

  • Higher education is preferable but not essential as training will be given

  • Good understanding of Excel is preferable but not essential and general computer skills

    This role is an entry level role and would be perfect for someone straight out of university, looking for a career change with a background of construction. Full training will be given from the start of employment and if successful you will be able to shadow a team of 3 estimators. A full development plan to take the employee from a junior to a fully trained estimator with monetary increases is in place.
