We have a fantastic position available for a Wellbeing Worker, you will act in a key role supporting the Key Workers and Managers in our Southport Services to deliver 24-hour support in a therapeutic living environment. 

You will work across our Southport Services in Leyland Road and Leicester Street on a part time basis, working an average of 16 hours per week. The shifts will be two Sundays per month at Leyland Road working 8am till 8pm and 10 hours per week split across Leyland Road and Leicester Street, shifts are negotiable depending upon activities planned. In return, you will receive a competitive hourly rate of £10.20 per hour.

New Start is a family-run, not-for-profit organisation, providing residential and supported accommodation services for vulnerable adults, families, and young people.

Within Southport we deliver our Homeless Services across two sites, adopting a person-centred strengths-based approach. Sefton clients who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless can access our temporary accommodation from 12 to 18 months. At Leicester Street we have 15 units of Temporary Supported Accommodation for individuals who may have a complex need around substance misuse, alcohol addictions or mental health. In addition, there is an overnight crash bed service, providing 4 emergency accommodation units which will be accessible for up to 96 hours whilst clients are assisted to find solutions to their needs.

At Leyland Road we have 15 Units of self-contained accommodation which is staffed by support staff 24 hours a day. This service focuses on the younger person with the age range being from 18 to 35 and the identified needs being of a medium to high level. Leyland Road also offers shared accommodation in our independent living 5 bed service. This is for those who have found themselves within the homeless system but require less support for move on.

Responsibilities of a Wellbeing Worker.

  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of Wellbeing Activities and liaising with our in-house Support Workers and Project Managers.
  • Ensuring that all activities are entertaining, motivating and engaging for our residents by creating a tailored approach, linking all activities to assessed social needs.
  • Offering opportunities to our residents that build on their interests and create new experiences to support their physical and mental wellbeing.
  • To create detailed activity plans, risk assessments and following each session create an activity report and individual write up for each resident.
  • To co-ordinate/facilitate an on-site activities schedule to engage residents and support their recovery and personal development.
  • To empower service users to work towards their future hopes and aspirations as part of their move on plan.
  • To provide updates to the Project Manager in terms of service user engagement, changes to the activity timetable to increase service user engagement or suggestions for new activities.

  • From a support role background, supporting people with complex needs.
  • An excellent team player who will go above and beyond to support staff and service users within New Start services.
  • Creative flair with keen interest in specific areas, which may include Cooking, Arts & Craft, Music, or the outdoors.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is desirable.
