Axis Trampoline and Gymnastics Club was originally established as an independent club in 2005, and operated for three years under the banner of Team Bath Evolution Trampoline Club (who Olly competed for during his competitive career). In 2008 the club was rebranded as Axis Trampoline Club, and further rebranded as Axis Trampoline and Gymnastics Club in 2015 when we moved into our dedicated premises and started delivering more than just trampolining. Since our inception, we have worked hard to establish ourselves as Bristol’s biggest and most successful competitive trampoline club.

After 9 years of setup/setdown sessions at Ashton Park School and after starting with two tired old trampolines and a couple of push in mats, we expanded the club from two nights per week to full time operation when we moved to Redwood Hotel and Leisure Club. After a successful expansion, the club was sadly made homeless in August 2014 when Redwood Hotel closed unexpectedly! After moving back to Ashton Park School, we worked very hard to secure new premises, moving into our own dedicated centre in January 2015, and re-branded as Axis Trampoline & Gymnastics Club. This move enabled the club to expand its sessions and services and we now runs classes in a wide range of gymnastic disciplines including Trampolining, General Gymnastics, Double Mini Trampoline, Pre-School, Tumbling, Freestyle Gymnastics (FreeG), Gymfit, Trampoline Wall and Aerial Circus.

Axis Trampoline and Gymnastics Club is a not-for-profit community-based club whose purpose is to get as many people in the community from pre-school through to adults involved in our full range of fantastic gymnastics disciplines, promoting both participation and fun at all levels. We welcome beginners of all ages and with our younger members we work towards the British Gymnastics Fundamentals and Proficiency Award Schemes which encourages the children to achieve goals and gain awards.

As part of the Coach Core offer, we provide a dedicated tutor, to support you through the qualification and help you put your learning into practice at work. This tutor will deliver a weekly group education session for all apprentices, allowing you to learn and share ideas from a range of different coaching environments. Furthermore, Bristol Sport Foundation will also provide you with a mentor for day-to-day training, supporting you to grow in the role.

If you are successful with your application, your role will involve:

– Helping to inspire your community to develop and lead an active, healthy, happy lifestyle.

– Working alongside experienced coaches to support various activities.

– Assisting with the planning and delivery of lessons, taking the lead with small groups as directed.

– Supporting the head coach with reporting on participant progress and development.

– Assisting with the wider activities of Bristol Sport Foundation, which may include administration tasks, social media, marketing, and events.

– Maintaining the health and safety of those involved in your sessions.

– Sharing knowledge and ideas with other Coach Core apprentices, to help improve coaching delivery.

As an apprentice with Axis Trampoline and Gymnastics Club, you will be studying towards a 12-18-month qualification that will be the Community Coach Activator Level 2 Apprenticeship.

Desired personal Qualities

You must be enthusiastic about wanting to work within the sport and physical activity sector and be committed to inspiring others to be more physically active. No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, develop and challenge yourself is essential.

As with any apprenticeship programme, you will be required to complete a qualification as part of your employment. As far as is possible, we will work to make this as practical as possible, to ensure you can put your learning into practice
