About us

The Youth Wellbeing Mentor delivers wellbeing interventions as part of the Youth Wellbeing Service. The Youth Wellbeing Service is a Families First funded project and offers targeted support for young people in the Vale of Glamorgan who have faced adverse childhood experiences which are significantly affecting their social and emotional wellbeing. This service is managed by the Vale Youth Service and is situated in the Learning and Skills department.

About the role

Pay Details: JNC Youth & Community Support Worker Range – Pt12 £24,228 p.a. 

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week/ 52 weeks including evenings and weekends

Main Place of Work: Civic Offices

Temporary Reason: Temporary until 31.03.23 due to grant funding

Description: We are looking for a motivated person with an understanding of mentoring interventions to deliver Families First Youth Wellbeing Service project outcomes to vulnerable children and young people across the Vale of Glamorgan in schools and various locations. This may include some evening work supporting projects and after school developments.

  • To work as part of a team in the delivery of informal educational activities to meet the personal, social, leisure and emotional wellbeing needs of young people.
  • To support vulnerable young people and those who are at risk of becoming NEET.

    You will need:

  • Experience of face-to-face work with challenging young people.
  • Experience of 1-1 support and working with families.
  • Ability to relate to, supervise and form positive relationships with colleagues and young people.
  • Ability to use own initiative and work with minimum supervision.
