We are looking for a Homefinder Officer to work in our busy Housing Options & Advice Team providing a customer focused front-line service. Flexibility, self-motivation and working on your own initiative are important in both the working environment and the customers that require our services.

The Homefinder Officer is responsible for manging the day-to-day management and processing of Housing Need Application for both transfer and homeseeker applicants and the allocation of accommodation. Coordinating mutual exchanges both internally and externally liaising with other local authorities and registered providers.

The successful applicant will be required to work out of normal office hours on occasions and carry out home visits and property inspections.

Job purpose:

The Council is committed to providing its customers with the highest level of customer care through the delivery of a customer focused, high quality Housing Service. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management and processing of individual Home seeker applications, internal transfer cases and internal and external mutual exchanges from the date of registration through to the offer of accommodation. The role will also include the placement of homeless applicants in either Council owned or externally provided temporary accommodation.

  • Be responsible for the assessment, processing and administration of Homeseeker applications within legal requirements and Council Policy.
  • Be responsible for the assessment, processing and administration of internal transfer applications.
  • Be responsible for the assessment, processing and administration of internal and external mutual exchange applications.
  • Administer the allocation of temporary accommodation supplied by both internal and external providers and arrange the use of bed and breakfast where this has been assessed as the only option available.
  • Work closely in partnership with the wider Housing Service, other Council departments and where relevant external agencies to ensure that appropriate services are delivered.
  • The Candidate:

    Qualified to GCSE A-C in English and Maths or minimum Level 4 or equivalent, applicants need to be able to demonstrate front line Local Authority housing or private sector housing experience. Applicants must have good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.

    Candidates with the relevant experience or job titles of: estate agent, home finder, Resident Liaison Officer, Client Services Administrator, Customer Service Assistant, Project Assistant, Client Relationship Manager, Project Support Assistant, Construction Project Assistant, Residential Engagement Executive, Customer Service Officer, Technical Officer, Construction Project Resident Engagement, Events Assistant, General Manager, Office Manager, Construction Planning Assistant will also be considered for this role.
