Our client, a highly respected public sector organisation based in Barrhead, require a Supported Accommodation Officer on a temporary basis for approximately 2 months. The salary for the role is £13.49 per day. Working 37 hours per week shift based 5 days out of 7.
Main purpose of role:
To provide supervision, support, advice, and assistance to homeless applicants, during their occupancy of temporary accommodation.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
The provision of housing support such as helping to develop independent living skills; assistance with form completion; and basic welfare benefit and housing advice Provide moral and emotional support and assistance as and when required Liaison with a variety of departments such as Education and Social Work, addressing the needs of the individual and their family Link residents and tenants with other service providers such as Voluntary organisations Supervising the property and surrounding area Monitoring residents to ensure adherence to the tenancy conditions Undertaking inventories when tenants arrive and depart Checking in new residents including completion of the tenancy agreements and Housing Benefit forms Arranging repairs and furniture replacements To valet the flats to the appropriate standard when a resident departs Undertake administrative duties as directed by line management Keep the Senior Supported Accommodation Officer continuously informed on all aspects of the role and of any difficulties or problems that arise Key Skills and Requirements:
SVQ 3 Social Care or equivalent level qualification meeting the registration requirements for Housing Support with SSSC Experience of working with people with dependency and/or mental health problems or other vulnerable client groups Knowledge of statutory and voluntary resources available to homeless people Experience of working in a housing environment and/or of resettlement work General understanding of welfare benefits Experience of interviewing and the provision of advice and assistance Sound IT skills Experience of using MS windows packages Ability to work to own initiative and under own supervision Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to plan and organise workload Self motivated, diplomatic and sensitive Flexible approach to work to meet demands of service Able to cover additional hours in event of holidays and sickness Able to carry out valets to properties during voids
