You’ll be in charge of making key decisions throughout the buying process including:

  • Selecting new products and reviewing the old ranges
  • Budget planning and range analysis
  • Finding the right suppliers and negotiating prices
  • Ensuring timely delivery of products
  • Interpreting complex data reports and predicting future sales
  • Pitching ideas and presenting to senior management
  • Stock control and reacting to changes in customer demand
  • Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers while seeking new ones
  • Attending trade events and shows and networking within the industry
  • Collaborating with the wider teams to plan activities and promotions

The Successful Applicant

  • Experienced Buyer with exposure to trading in the general merchandising goods category
  • Highly organised and experienced trader able to translate market trends into sales opportunity
  • Strong understanding of multi-channel Convenience Retailing with a proven track record in Retail
  • A strong understanding of the life-cycle of a product in a seasonally reactive business.
  • Proven experience in Buying/ Product Selection at a senior level
  • A high commercial understanding of product offerings and ability to create range business plan
  • Experienced in devising and delivering strategic and tactical development, sourcing, buying, marketing and sales plans
  • Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers to deliver and exceed margin, profit and growth targets
  • Budget planning and proven track record in buying at the right price and the right time
  • Proven understanding of Far East Sourcing (FOB), Manufacturing and QA/C.
