Childrens Services Worker

Circa Salary: £20,300 per annum

Contract/Hours: Permanent 37 hours per week – Full-Time, 37 hours a week Sunday to Thursday 8.45 – 17.15 hrs, with one evening youth club, Tuesday or Thursday 16:00 – 21:00

Location: Aylesbury, High Wycombe and surrounding areas in Buckinghamshire.

We’re Bucks Activity Project, one of over 500 services in the Action for Children family. We are passionate about providing community short breaks to children with disabilities and additional needs for children aged 0-19. Our aim is to give every child customised opportunities to have fun, build skills and promote independence at their pace, underpinned by a welcoming, responsive and skilled administrative team that supports our staff, families and partners.

You don’t need to have previous experience or qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to become an excellent Children’s Services Worker. All we ask is that you have a positive attitude and desire to give the best care to children and young people.

You will be supported to make a difference by not only providing personal care, but encouraging the children and young people to access a wide range of activities to meet their individual needs and interests including arts and crafts, sensory play, cooking, team games, outdoor play, enhancing life skills. You will also be engaging, having fun and interacting with children and young people that take part in activities in the local community such as climbing, water sports, go karting and visits to local farms and parks.

As a Children’s Services Worker you’ll be:

-Working with an amazing supportive staff team!
-Building strong relationships with the children and young people you are working with, adapting your approach as needed.
-Providing a safe environment for children to have fun, try new experiences and thrive.
-Supporting our youngest children to access activities to meet their individual needs and interests, following the Early Years Foundation Stage.
-Supporting our primary and secondary age children to take part in activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, team games, outdoor games and enhancing life skills. Supporting those that have chosen to take part in activities in the local community.
-Keeping records of children’s development and learning.
-Carrying out personal care and administering medication (training provided)

What You’ll Bring:

-Experience of working with children and young people.
-A relevant qualification in Childcare and Education is desirable but not essential
-A positive attitude and desire to give the best care to children and young people.
-Knowledge of disabilities/additional needs (desirable).
-Willing to complete training as and when required to enhance your experience of working in children’s services.
-Ability to have fun, play, interact and engage with children and young people
