An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Housing Management Team in the Housing Options Service

As a Housing Officer, you will manage a portfolio of temporary accommodation both within and outside of the borough and provide a full housing management service to homeless households in temporary accommodation.

You should have knowledge of the duties owed to homeless households under the Housing Act , the Homelessness Act , Homelessness Reduction Act, and any other relevant legislation as applicable

You will also be supporting households to access agreed move-on options including but not limited to supporting with bidding strategies, qualifying offers, PRSO, access to supported and specialist housing, and to issue statutory decision letters and undertake procedures for housing customers into private rented sector and other accommodation types, including ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, guidance governing the suitability of accommodation and Council policies, procedures and targets

You will be responsible for maximising income through effective monitoring of rent accounts. You will have good knowledge of the Housing Benefits system and general knowledge of the wider welfare benefits available to customers, including but not limited to understanding the benefit cap and affordability.

You will have excellent customer engagement skills, be able to describe and talk through options, have relevant knowledge and be able to undertake holistic assessment of needs, including financial assessments and use a range of resources and tools to support the move-on process so that households are moved into suitable and affordable accommodation first time round. 

You should have good experience of case and data management.
