    PURPOSE OF ROLE: To provide Information, Advice, Guidance and Support to young people who are NEET to ensure are reengaged and supported back into appropriate Education, Employment and/ or training


    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Corporate

  • To work effectively as part of the 14-19 Services team within the context priorities and One Hounslow Values.
  • To contribute to the development and delivery of priorities, activities and targets related to the participation, achievement and progression of young people identified within Corporate and 14-19 Service Plans;
  • To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be requested appropriate to the grade
  • Functional

  • To provide information, advice and guidance on personal development, learning and work opportunities for young people including, where appropriate, making referrals to suitable opportunities, partners or support services.
  • To manage and support an allocated caseload of young people (NEET including SEND) towards positive outcomes.
  • To engage with parents, carers and families as appropriate in supporting the needs of clients/young people.
  • To provide information advice and support to young people (14-25) who qualify for an Education Health and Care Plan to enable their views on progression into further learning, training, employment and adulthood to be captured and presented at annual reviews, transition meetings and review panels.
  • To use agreed systems and procedures to evaluate the quality and impact of provision and support in moving young people (including those with SEND) towards appropriate achievements and next steps.
  • To use agreed assessment tools (e.g. Outcome Star) to identify and record young people’s skills, aspirations, personal circumstances and barriers in order to inform guidance and support and to meet their progression needs.
  • To develop and maintain systems (e.g. IYSS and Outcome Star) and follow agreed procedures to ensure that casework and management information is recorded, kept up to date and accessible to those who need it.
  • To work in a variety of locations and settings to maximise the potential for engaging with young people (e.g. schools/colleges, training providers, drop in centres, youth centres, events, door-step visits).
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, internal partners (e.g. Skills and Employment Team, Virtual College for Looked After Children/Care Leavers, Special Educational Needs Team, Youth Offending Team) and external partners (e.g. schools, training providers, third sector organisations, employers ) in order to improve synergy and effectiveness in delivering services to young people.
  • To actively engage in team meetings and other CPD opportunities and take responsibility for keeping up to date with policy, practice, and provision (including education, training, alternative provision, personal development opportunities, volunteering opportunities and employment opportunities)
  • To actively support the development, facilitation and/or delivery of activities which promote the 14-19 Service and opportunities for young people (e,g, Apprenticeship Events, Jobs and Career’s Fairs).
  • To actively engage in and support service development and quality improvement and work positively and flexibly to meet the changing demands and needs of service delivery.
  • * Experience of delivering high quality Careers Information, Advice and Guidance to young people (16-25) in a range of settings (e.g. schools, youth clubs, drop in centres, community calling/door knocking)
    * Proven ability to form positive and transformational relationships with children and young people who experience barriers to engagement in education, employment or training
    * Able to organise workload and manage conflicting pressures and deadlines
    * Able to communicate and develop and sustain professional relationships with stakeholders (including young people, parents and carers).
    * Able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team
