Residential Worker

Salary: Circa £23,500 per annum pro-rata, plus enhancements for sleep ins

Location: Rickmansworth

Contract/Hours: Permanent Part Time 32 hours a week on a 24/7 shift Rota working approx. 4 days out of 7.

A bit about the role

Short Breaks @ West Hyde is a provision for children and young people with a wide variety of additional needs from learning difficulties to complex health needs, between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. The primary aim is for those who visit each day to have fun, enjoy themselves and make friends in a safe environment where they feel comfortable and valued, whilst offering them the same opportunities that other children their age have.

Due to constant growth, we are currently looking for Residential Workers to join our thriving team and make a real difference in the services we provide.

You will be involved in shaping and developing Action for Children’s values, as well as supporting the Registered Manager, Teams leaders and the team of residential support workers.

How you’ll help to create brighter futures

  • Shift leading and sleeping in.
  • Providing high quality services that support the needs of the children and young people, which includes personal care and the administration of medication.
  • Being a key worker, creating and updating care plans, risk assessments and any other related documents.
  • Being an advocate for the wellbeing of the young people.
  • Providing a strong and motivational contribution to the team.
  • Promoting independence.
  • Liaising with families, multi agencies and attending professional meetings.
  • Being responsible for safeguarding and promoting individual rights.
  • Building excellent relationships with young people, their families and other care professionals.

Let’s talk about you

  • Experience of working with children or young people (experience working with children with disabilities would be an advantage).
  • Level 3 QCF Working with Children and Young People or equivalent is desirable, or the willingness to work towards this.
  • A positive and confident approach to engaging with children and young people,
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach to working hours (service open seven days a week).
  • Good level of written English
  • IT literate, the ideal candidate must be confident in using a computer.
  • Be able to drive for taking young people on trips and attending meetings (desirable but not essential to be over 25yrs old and had a full license
  • Having a desire to succeed.
