Robert Half is exclusively partnered with a growing Accountancy Practise as they look to add a new member of staff to their team. This exciting organisation focusses its time on new Start-up clients and range of small businesses predominantly surrounding the Peterborough area. The successful candidate will ideally be from a practice background; however, this is not essential, be comfortable working in the Peterborough office on a full or part-time basis and able to handle full accounts preparation without assistance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing the statutory accounts for companies, partnerships, and sole traders
  • Preparing of business tax and Corporation Tax computations and returns
  • Preparing self-assessment and partnership tax returns
  • Reviewing accounting and tax work prepared by others
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly vat returns
  • Managing workload and client expectations
  • Working within budgets set at the planning stage
  • Overseeing junior staff in the preparation of accounts, providing training where required and assisting with their development
  • Ensuring the efficient use of appropriate software packages internal and supporting clients accounting systems
  • Taking an active role in business development, and promoting the firm in the local area
  • Maintaining good working relationships with clients and staff
  • Attending training courses as identified to develop both technical and personal skills.
  • Support a variation of client portfolio
  • Establishing new and existing relationships with clients
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including monthly management meetings with many clients
  • Assisting and advising clients on a wide range of matters such as year-end accounts, self-assessment, VAT, management accounts etc
  • Looking at ways to improve efficiency and processes by utilising new technology.
  • Meeting with clients to discuss accounts/tax matters
  • Building and developing relationships with other professionals such as banks, solicitors etc through networking
  • Using a wide range of different accounting packages to assist clients such as Tax Filer, Quickbooks, Xero, etc
  • Performing quality reviews on work done by other team members
  • Updating client’s computer records for accounting year adjustments
  • Researching and developing an opinion on technical points as required
  • Ensuring that client’s compliance are maintained accurately
  • Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant or Finalist with experience working in a similar position previously (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Experience working with a diverse portfolio of clients and managing multiple open accounts at once
  • Hands on attitude with a keen eye for detail
  • Team player and willing to go the extra mile to keep to tight deadlines
  • System literate and ability to use technology to your advantage
