An exciting opportunity has arisen within CLCH Community & Specialist Dental Service for an Oral health promoter to join our highly motivated and experienced Oral health Promotion team. The post is a fulltime fixed term contract until 31st March 2023 with strong possibility to extend for further 12 months.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Oral Health Promoter with a recognised Fluoride Varnish Application qualification to join the existing Oral Health Promotion team. You will be required to deliver high quality oral health promotion services for local population according to oral health contract. The role will also include delivering training and presentations to professionals and general public.

CLCH oral Health Promotion Service works within London boroughs of Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea. This job requires good organisation skills and ability to travel between sites.

Applicants must be DCP GDC registered.

Main duties of the job

The commissioned service is the Oral Health Promotion (OHP) contract across the London boroughs of Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea.

The Oral Health Promoter will hold a dental nursing qualification and registration with General Dental Council (UK) and a recognised fluoride varnish application qualificationand may be required to work as a dental nurse occasionally.

This service is provided within children’s centres, targeted primary schools, Early Years settings and their families, care homes and other key prioritized groups as defined in the contract.

Provide support and train members of the Early Years Workforce, Health Visiting staff and other health professionals in order to able to lead on and continue the initiatives implemented, thus creating sustainability of programmes.

The Oral Health Promoter will become a member of a highly regarded OHP Team to provide evidence based oral health promotion and education to the statutory, voluntary and community groups and individuals within the local population in order to help reduce the inequalities in oral health.

Oral Health Promotion is a multifaceted role requiring an expansive knowledge base and a diversity of inter-personal and organisational skills.

  • Deliver the Keep Smiling toothbrushing and Fluoride Varnish programme in targeted schools.
  • Provide a seamless and integrated pathway for children and their parents/carers and vulnerable adults, which aims to empower self-management of their oral health and well-being and make informed choices through improving their knowledge and education as required.
  • Work with all age groups including vulnerable adults, homeless in communities to identify and address barriers and opportunities for oral health improvement.
  • Build public user involvement into training programmes and activity sessions for the evaluation process.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency events where oral health can be promoted to the general public, such as exhibitions and displays for local events Health Fairs, Sugar Smart, My Westminster Day.
