We are seeking a dynamic Consultant Clinical Immunologist to join the Adult Allergy & Clinical Immunology Department and the Laboratory Immunology Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The job is a full time post comprising of ten programmed activities, with supervision of the junior doctors (including trainee Registrar) and specialist nurses.

We are offering a Recruitment and Retention Premia of £4000 with this post. There will be £2000 payable on starting in this post and £2000 following 12 months’ service (this would be repayable if the post holder was to leave during year 2). We are also offering relocation Expenses of up to £8,000.

Main duties of the job

The department which is specialised commissioned, is committed to providing high quality specialist care to patients suffering from allergic diseases and immunodeficiencies. We deliver a friendly, consultant lead, patient centric service. Our multidisciplinary teams are a key part of our success which includes: anaesthetist specialising in peri-operative anaphylaxis, clinical nurse specialists, highly specialist dietitian (allergy), dedicated pharmacists including homecare pharmacist and Consultant Clinical Scientist. The post includes dedicated time to support our UKAS accredited regional Immunology laboratory.

The appointee must hold the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, or equivalent and should have completed a recognised training programme in clinical and laboratory immunology as per curriculum outlined by JRCPTB or equivalent body. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register. Shortlisted candidates are encouraged to visit by prior appointment.
