Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic,motivated and dedicated Assistant Reception Manager to join our friendly andwelcoming Reception Team. The Assistant Reception Manager would need to helpthe current Reception Manager to manage the team and take responsibility forthe smooth running of the reception area.
You will assist the ReceptionManager as a line manager for the reception team. You will need to support andmanage reception rotas, manage sickness and absences and hold regular teammeetings.
The successful candidate will needexcellent communication skills and resilience. They must be able to work ontheir own initiative and have supervisory experience, along with strong ITskills. You must be organised, confident and professional, have a friendly andapproachable manner and can work under pressure.
Main duties of the job
The managerial aspect of the roleincludes, but is not limited to, the following:
Previous experience in a managerial role is essentialas is experience in a patient/customer facing role. Previous experience in ahealthcare role would be helpful but not essential.
The Assistant Reception manager will also need to be able tocover all reception posts as necessary. The receptionist aspect of the role isvery varied and involves, but is not limited to, the following:

Burdwood Surgery is a townpractice located in the centre of Thatcham. We are a list holding practice witha list size of around 10,300 patients. We are part of the Kennet PCN, workingclosely with Thatcham Medical Practice & Falkland Surgery.
After the 2022 Patient Survey, wewere rated the 5th best practice in Berkshire with a patientsatisfaction rate of 91% for our reception team. We pride ourselves on being adementia friendly and military veteran friendly medical practice & in ourmost recent CQC review, we were rated Good in all areas.
Alongside our dedicated admin & reception teams, we also have a large clinical team made up of GPs, nurses,healthcare assistants, paramedics, pharmacists & social prescribers who work together to provide the best care for our patients. We also offer trainingto all our staff & welcome the opportunity for our colleagues to furthertheir skills by attending training courses suitable to their role.
Our Patient Participation Group isvery engaged, & this year, they have helped us run blood pressure clinics toprovide better care for our patients. We have also run flu & COVID-19 boostervaccination clinics this year & have vaccinated 70% of our patient populationso far.
We are trying tomaximise appointment capacity for patients & offer 45% of our appointments tobe booked on the day.
We have great road and rail links;we are only a 5-minute walk from Thatcham Railway Station.
