Fixed Term Trust Locum Consultant Care of the Elderly Physician

Are you within 6 months of submitting your CESR application and seeking a long term career opportunity with the ultimate goal of a permanent consultant position within the NHS?

Main duties of the job
We have the opportunity to recruit a new Care of the Elderly Consultant and we look forward to welcoming you to our friendly, dynamic and enthusiastic team of geriatricians based at Scarborough Hospital.
The appointee will work closely with the existing Consultant team in providing a full range of geriatric services. We are implementing a dedicated 1 in 8 Care of the Elderly rota to provide a frailty service seven days per week, which will include a requirement to support the GIM on call one day per week. There are plans to create a frailty assessment unit in 2022.

Qualifications
Essential
- Hold a medical qualification
- Registered with and holds a license to practice with the General Medical Council
- CESR submission for Geriatric medicine to be made within 6 months of appointment (details of how this will be achieved must be evidenced in the application)
Desirable
- Entry on specialist Register in geriatric Medicine & GIM expected within 6 months of the interview date
Mentoring and Teaching
Essential
- Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
- Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings
Clinical practice/ competence
Essential
- Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and skill required for gaining UK CCT in Geriatric +/- General Medicine
- Demonstrates a sound knowledge of clinical governance practice
Desirable
- Specialist interest in Orthogeriatric Medicine
- Experience of delivering community based geriatric services
- Experience of delivering frailty service within an acute setting
