Your new company

You will be working for a provider of social housing who are dedicated to making a positive difference. They aim to work with individuals to help them recover their self-confidence, well-being and independence. This service is a male unit, which houses service users with alcohol and substance misuse, mental health and an offending history. They are currently recruiting for project assistants and support workers on both long term temporary basis (12 weeks+) with the opportunity of extension and permanent roles.

Your new role

You will be responsible for supporting service users with a focus on preparing them to live independently in their own tenancy, with an emphasis on re-housing, training, education and employment. Further duties will include:

  • Managing your own caseload of services users
  • Develop risk assessments and support plans
  • Deliver advice on matters such as housing queries, welfare benefits and financial affairs
  • You will help them create connections within the local community in order to improve their social skills and confidence

Please note, you will be working on a rolling rota basis with shift patterns of 9:30am-5:30pm, 7:30am-3pm and 2pm-10pm. You will also work 1 in 5 weekends.

What you’ll need to succeed

In order to succeed, you will have experience supporting individuals with complex mental health needs and alcohol/substance misuse or homelessness. Experience with ex-offenders would be highly desirable. You must have experience in managing your own caseload and you will be confident in carrying out risk assessments and support plans without supervision. Your communication, interpersonal skills and ability to be empathetic must be excellent in order to ensure interactions with the service users achieve positive outcomes.
