Homeless Support Worker
Location: Stoke, Blurton – out in the community
Hours: 37.5 Hours – Monday to Friday & Occasional Weekend
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 9-5
Driver essential – you will not be considered for this position should you not hold a UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle

What’s in it for YOU?
For your hard work and commitment, you will be paid a salary of £21,450, and a very desirable employee package! Basic salary of £21,450 with the option of being on the ‘on-call’ rota, being £90 – potential earnings of taking part in the on-call rota could earn you an additional income of over £4,000 a year.

Overview of the role
The role is in Stoke-On-Trent in the Blurton area. Homeless Support Workers will be expected to support service users with their accommodation, help them overcome their addictions, re-engage them back into the community, support with their mental health, and liaise with external agencies. You will provide support to those who are in need, to try and access the appropriate benefits and help with their tenancy. The service users can be some of the toughest and most challenged individuals in the area. You will need to be resilient and have a true passion for supporting service users who demonstrate extremely challenging signs of drug and alcohol misuse, and those who struggle with personal hygiene. This position is NOT a personal care role, you should advise them to take care of their personal hygiene and support them with advice where possible.

Key Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to;

  • Providing housing support to vulnerable people
  • Promote their independence and recovery
  • Responding appropriately to chaotic and challenging behaviour
  • Providing support to those at risk of homelessness
  • Providing an effective and responsive supportive service
  • Liaise with referral teams/agencies regarding vacancies and referrals.

Required Skills, Experience, & Knowledge

  • At least 6 month’s experience supporting youths or young adults who are homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless
  • You need to be resilient, as some service users will be vulnerable and will have challenging behaviour, and other complex needs
  • Having the right attitude is key, and the most important thing my client is looking for. You need to show your loyalty and they will repay that faith with training and opportunities to grow within their organisation

Interview Process
1st Stage – Shortlisting
In the first stage I personally will review your CV. Should you be successful, I will invite you for a Microsoft teams meeting.

2nd Stage – Pre-Screening
In this stage, we will have a Microsoft teams meeting to discuss your right to work, work history, and suitability for the role.

3rd Stage – Formal Interview
In this stage, you will go have a formal interview with the hiring manager.
