Morgan Hunt are delighted to be working with a large, reputable housing association in the North West, who are looking to recruit for the role of Senior Project Worker at their supported housing service in Manchester. This role is initially a temporary post, however for the right candidate there is the opportunity for this to become permanent.

Our client supports vulnerable, homeless young customers with support needs through providing high quality housing and support services. They aim to actively seek to empower customers using a person-centred approach; enabling them to gain and maintain control of various aspects of their lives. Through comprehensive individualised support packages, they aim to promote independence and assist customers to move into more permanent accommodation suitable to their needs. The end goal is to successfully build on skills that will support the customer to access work, training, or education.

The role – Senior Project Worker

As a Senior Project Worker you will be required to;

  • Work alongside the Supported Housing Manager, to oversee the day-to-day operational management of the scheme
  • Support and supervise staff to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service
  • Under direction from the Supported Living Manager, lead on all aspects of housing management, including but not exclusive to, collecting rent, void management, reporting repairs, maintaining the health and safety of the building
  • Directly supervise 2 x part-time Project Assistants and 1 x full-time Project Assistant
  • Provide key worker support to young people living at the scheme (with a reduced caseload)
  • At the direction of the Support Housing Manager, develop and maintain links with, and ensure effective communication with key partners, external agencies, and other internal departments
  • Actively participate in the selection of applicants, issuing Licence Agreements, ensuring that applicants are aware of the scheme’s aims and objectives
  • Follow up when incidents occur on scheme, ensuring that any action is documented and evidenced
  • Ensure that customers are offered comprehensive, individualised support packages
  • Ensure that Support Plans are reviewed regularly, and targets are set to enable customers to progress and develop life skills

  • The candidate

  • The ability to lead and motivate staff members to achieve specific outcomes
  • Demonstratable experience of working in a supported housing environment or relevant social care setting
  • Experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults with support needs
  • Experience of working with statutory agencies and voluntary support services
  • Experience of support planning and risk assessment
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and developments relating to young people and homelessness
  • The ability to act as an advocate on behalf of the customer and the project
  • Due to the nature of this role a DBS dated within the last 12 months or registered on the update service is required. The successful candidate will also have the availability to work shifts including some weekends and bank holidays.
