Main duties of the job

By attending our unique open day, you will be able to learn more about our Trust, meet the Specialist Nursing Team and discover what exciting new career pathway we can offer you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established team of Specialist Nurses in Birmingham. This is a city wide service that offers personalised specialist nursing support to children & families with a variety of highly complex physical health needs.

If you are an experienced Children’s /LD Nurse or HCA/Student with excellent clinical skills, have advanced communication abilities you may be who we are looking for to join our busy team. This post will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop rewarding therapeutic relationships with children & families

Within the roles in children’s specialist nursing, you will be required to support children with complex health needs. This client group has highly complex health needs which include children and young people that are technology dependent i.e. requiring invasive ventilation. The Specialist Nursing Service includes Children’s Rapid Response, Children’s Palliative Care, Children’s Community Nursing Team, Special School Nursing Team, Short Breaks and Training Service.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering high quality care according to agreed standards which are set and monitored in each service.

  • Evidence of relevant post related experience / on-going clinical training, and commitment to training.

Experience

  • Experience working with and caring for children with complex health needs. including children who require To require including: -tracheostomy care and/or long term ventilation needs -oxygen therapy, -suction, -enteral feeds etc -catheterisation
  • Experience working with and caring for children with life limited / threatening illnesses.
