Alpha Plus is a private education provider for children aged between one and eighteen. Founded in 1931, we have grown to become a group of 20 highly regarded independent schools and colleges. 

This role finance role is based at our head office in Marylebone, London reporting to the Financial Controller. We are looking for a proactive individual with very good attention to detail who will be able to work well as part of team and also build relationships with the finance staff working in the schools and colleges.

Responsibilities

  • Business partner to key decision makers including tracking spend per project and per cost centre.
  • Preparation of the month end management accounts for a portfolio of school and head office cost centres
  • Monthly meetings with Finance Officers and Directors of those cost centres to review income/cost position
  • Participation in finance governance visits to the schools, recording minutes and following through on actions
  • Tracking KPIs for those schools
  • Providing cost analysis and supporting Finance Officers to better manage school spend
  • Responding to queries from the Head and Educational Directors about those sites
  • Monthly prepayment analysis and upload
  • Processing monthly depreciation
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Circulation of transaction reports to key stakeholders
  • Regular review of key balance sheet accounts
  • Audit queries
  • Systems

  • Good Excel skills critical (in particular pivot tables and vlookups)
  • Sun and SIMS: No previous experience required although familiarity with other MIS and accounting systems beneficial
