Job responsibilities

You will provide day to day leadership for the development and further drive forward various public health priority programmes, workstreams and projects designed to address a range of identified health needs of children and young people. This includes an established multi-agency Starting Well Programme and an emerging Developing Well Programme.

You will need to ensure robust programme management arrangements are in place and provide appropriate assurance on delivery within timescales and budget. You will ensure we are capturing impact which may include the development and implementation of evaluation frameworks.

You will also provide public health input and contribute to the development and implementation of our exciting new Start for Life and Family Hubs Programme, which provides significant opportunities for prevention and transforming the services and support we offer to families.

You will lead or otherwise contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of relevant policies, strategies, plans and commissioning of services within public health, across the Council, NEL, HNY ICB and regional levels as appropriate.

You will communicate, and be a strong advocate for, the needs of children and young people in NEL, drawing on a range of quantitative and qualitative intelligence sources to ensure these are reflected in a wide spectrum of work. Tackling health inequalities will be a key thread throughout your work.

You will interpret and advise on national strategies and policies and advise on the evidence base of what works to improve a range of outcomes.

You will be responsible for commissioning specific key services and projects, such as, public health nursing services and peer support programmes.

You will ensure appropriate performance monitoring arrangements are in place and support any assurance arrangements around clinical governance and compliance. You will also contribute to other commissioning arrangements across the Council and Integrated Care Board to ensure the needs of children and young people are met.

About You

Strong communication and partnership working will be essential for this role, as well as strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain key relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across all sectors. You will also ensure close interfaces with the Integrated Care Board at HNY and NEL, Health and Care Partnership, NELC childrens services, education settings, OHID.
