An exciting opportunity has arisen for a post to cover Maternity Leave for a Band 5 Community Engagement Officer. Would you like to join a dynamic and innovative team to address health inequalities across three client cohorts? These are:

1) Homeless families

2) Refugees/Asylum seekers

3) Gypsies, Roma, Travellers, Showpeople and Boaters (GRTSB).

This team combines a creative and needs-driven approach to Public Health nursing and collaborates with a wide range of health, statutory and voluntary agencies to advocate for our families and challenge the many barriers to health care that these families experience.

This is an opportunity to continue to develop an important role and to utilise existing non-clinical skills in order to support the clinical staff in their delivery of health outreach.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Non-clinical support for the skill-mix Inclusion Health team to deliver the Healthy Child Program and to help them provide assertive health outreach to marginalised population groups (by developing and collating resources and providing co-ordination, project management and logistical support)

Providing community connections, advocating and signposting for health interventions, engage with assertive outreach to homeless and asylum-seeking families and Gypsy, Romany and Traveller communities in Surrey.

Leading on audits, developing Case Studies and working with our Communications Team to document interventions and patient stories

This role will suit:

A Band 4 Community Nursery Nurse with the requisite experience/skills/qualifications looking for professional development at this banding.

A non-clinical applicant with the requisite skills and experience in targeted outreach work with vulnerable or marginalised communities.

Bespoke psychological supervision is offered to all the team, as well as Reflect and Learn and Safeguarding Supervision because the welfare of team members is a priority.
