Band 7 Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Project, Enfield Drug and Alcohol Service. 22.5 hour

Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust provide community drug and alcohol services in the borough of Enfield. We deliver services from two sites in Enfield, Vincent House (recovery site) and Claverings (main treatment site), whilst Vincent House hosts the majority of the Therapeutic services the Counselling/ Clinical Psychologist will be based on both sites and in the community, the post holder will be expected to work as a member of a multidisciplinary specialist drug & alcohol team, providing information, advice, assessment, consultation services to relevant professionals and service users affected by rough sleeping.

People experiencing homelessness are likely to have additional needs around their mental and emotional wellbeing of these around 45% reported having a diagnosis, which compares to 25% of people within the general population. Many difficulties experienced by people who have been homeless often arise from histories of trauma, beginning in childhood. Psychologically Informed Environments are services that are designed and delivered in a way that take into account the emotional and psychological needs of the individuals using them. Your role will be crucial in developing such culture and environments within Enfield humulenes sector.

Main duties of the job

This is an innovative approach oriented towards delivery of psychologically informed environments facilitating development of psychological framework allowing services to have a shared understanding of and response to the people they support. This will consist of staff training and support which enables homeless sector workers to move away from crisis management and work in a more therapeutic and planned way as well as face to face work with service users You will be required to provide intermittent consultations and assessments of outcomes to enable staff and clients to evaluate their effectiveness, for ongoing development, and to evidence service impact.
