Job Title: Senior Support Worker
 Salary: £24,732 per annum Place of Work: Chichester Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday – Friday, must be prepared to work flexibly to suit the needs of the job)

There is an exciting opportunity to work within an innovative new model to help the most vulnerable in our community. Rather than follow normal housing routes of hostels to supported housing to independent accommodation, this service offers clients who have been rough sleeping, a temporary studio flat and intensive support needed to build their skills and lead functional lives.

Within this role, you will be working as a senior support worker, working within the good practice of Housing First principles, and as part of the Chichester Hostel team. You will be directly supporting 6 complex needs clients but case supervising 12 clients within this service. As part of the Chichester Hostel team, you will be supporting the most excluded clients where traditional service delivery has failed to engage and meet their needs.

Working as part of a team as well as independently, the successful candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to motivate, engage and inspire including the initiative to be able to deal with challenging situations in a calm and effect manner.

Examples of duties include:

  • Provide holistic, wrap around support to build client independence and resilience. To be assertive in strengths-based support to motivate and have unconditional positive regard to clients
  • To coordinate and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that supports clients to identify and meet their personal, social, health and employability needs.
  • Incorporate strengths based, trauma informed, collaborative and solution focused techniques into the relationships that you develop with clients and through into your support delivery.
  • Fully engage with providing data, case studies and achievements throughout the project.

    • In order to be successful in this role you will need:

  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision, as well as within a team
  • Good verbal and written communication.
  • An understanding of working directly with vulnerable people; this can include clients with learning disabilities, mental health problems, physical disabilities, ill health, behavioural issues, domestic violence
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a Homelessness, Substance Misuse or Mental Health setting
  • IT skills necessary to undertake all administrative and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to deal with challenging situations in a calm and effective manner, managing risk and health and safety as appropriate
  • Ability to motivate, engage and inspire
  • Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities on time
