Senior Manager Housing Needs – SMRA (Temporary Contract)

£33.25 PAYE/ £41.68 Umbrella PAYE

Location: London E16

The local Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced operational manager to manage the day to day temporary accommodation service , provided for what is the largest number of homeless households in the country, ensuring that the service is managed effectively in delivering the resident focused wide range of functions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for services providing c ontract management and compliance , allocation of both e mergency and second stage accommodation and property management services for a large portfolio of temporary accommodation, provided to the Council by a partner Registered Provider.

This will include but is not restricted to setting challenging performance targets in the delivery of the service and ensuring the swift investigation and response to enquiries about our service from our wide audience which consists of residents, elected members and regulatory services, such as the Local Government Ombudsman and the Housing Ombudsman.

Applicants for shortlisting will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the needs of a wide and diverse group of households and have experience of delivering the high quality customer focused tenant accommodation services that the Council requires for its homeless residents, and all internal and external partners and organisations working with the Council.

The service areas are:

a) Temporary Accommodation and Supply (including property management contract monitoring and compliance, supply and landlord support and payments to providers, letting of interim and long term temporary accommodation, PRS, Council and Registered Provider stock.);

b) Housing Options Centre and Review Team (Covering Options, Part 7 homelessness and Reviews of Homelessness)

  • The post holder may be required to work evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays, in order to meet service requirements.
  • There are two designated service areas within the Housing Needs Service structure and the post holder will undertake lead management responsibility for one and work flexibly and provide cover across the other.
