Working with local university partners, we are co-creating an innovative clinical skills education and training faculty, inclusive of a rich suite of opportunities to develop as a clinical academic or as a professional clinical educator.

The ideal candidate would be a skilled Nurse or Midwife with excellent clinical skills, looking for a professional development challenge and/or a skilled Band 6 looking for a career change.

Main duties of the job

The role includes all aspects of practice-based teaching, lecturing, clinical skills training, and will be undertaken in a number of settings, including clinical areas, university and clinical simulation suites. The role also involves an element of practice assessment, evaluation of learning and learning audit, so some expertise and experience of these areas of education practice would be highly valued.

This is a delivery-focused role and to be successful you will need to be highly organised, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to manage competing priorities.

The Clinical Skills Practitioner role is responsible for supporting the co-ordination and delivery of Clinical Skills Training Trust wide, delivering on all aspects of clinical skills training and Manual Handling training. Delivery of training will be at a high standard and be evidence based. This role will involve delivering training programmes across all sites, teaching skills to a wide range of multi-disciplinary staff groups, student and apprentices and supporting clinical areas and wards with skills audits and learning support as necessary.

The post holder will support the Quality and Safety Lead for Education to meet the Trust’s clinical skills and training agenda across the trust.
