JobSummary
Responsible for thedecontamination of dental instruments and the collection and delivery of them to locations around Cornwall using a company vehicle. Responsiblefor the transportation of mail and other ad hoc goods and equipment between theSmile Together sites according to the timetable and on other occasions asinstructed.
Keyaccountabilities:
Able to recognise and identify all dental equipment
Manage the decontamination of dental instruments and organise effectivelyfor timely clinical use
Use the computer and tracking system when and where appropriate
Assist in the maintaining of stock levels and the ordering of consumablesused in the Decontamination Hub
Maintain the Decontamination Hub, keeping it clean and tidy
Adhere to departmental policies, protocols and guidance determined by thecompany
Ensure that the highest standards of decontamination are in place and inaccordance with HTM 01-05
Contribute towards the development of best practice within the service tohelp and achieve high quality patient care
Ensure dental equipment is available to clinical colleagues as and whenrequired
Promote best practice and a high level of support to dental operators andpatient care for the company
Participate in clinical governance sessions, complying with the companysclinical governance (this will include audits)
Assist with audits relevant to Decontamination (eg. Health and Safety,Infection Control, Security, Quality Standards etc)
Sterilisation of dental equipment and instruments in line with SmileTogether policies and procedures using washer disinfectors/autoclaves and DACMachines
Frequent requirement to exert moderate lifting when moving boxes ofinstruments (eg. emptying the washer disinfector and autoclaves). This will bea daily requirement and manual handling training will be provided
The post holder will be required to maintain good concentration to accuratelycheck in, sterilise and pack equipment, with frequent interruptions
This role involves repetitive work
Organise own time and delivery routes where appropriate for maximumefficiency
Maintenanceof items of dental equipment including dismantling, cleaning, lubrication andreassembly
Do allchecks and validation on equipment to ensure they are fit for use
Ensurethat all goods delivered are signed for as instructed
Beresponsible for the safe loading, securing, unloading of goods/equipment anddistributing them around the company and other sites and areas asrequired/instructed
Be responsible for safe working andpractice on a day-to-day basis in sites of clinical activity, ensuringcompliance with clinical governance and legislation, appropriate health, safetyand security procedures within the work area, and report accidents, incidentsand near misses using the Smile Together incident reporting procedure
Working in a clinical environment there is frequent exposure to blood,bodily fluids and hazardous substances
Full training for this position will be given including the opportunityto shadow colleagues in an alternative location
Actively engage with Smile Together teams and participate in auditactivities, planning and development sessions, and in-house meetings etc
Be responsible for safe working and practice on a day-to-day basis insites of clinical activity, ensuring compliance with clinical governance andlegislation such as HTM 01-05, appropriate health, safety and securityprocedures within the work area, and report accidents, incidents and nearmisses using the Smile Together incident reporting procedure
Be aware of continuing professional development and undertake training asand when necessary to learn new and maintain current skills

DriverDuties
Collectionand delivery of dental instruments to locations around Cornwall using companyvehicle
Drive vehicles on company business
Responsiblefor ensuring drivers hours are adhered to, including taking appropriatebreaks. Responsible for keeping drivers hours records as instructed by linemanager
Responsiblefor daily vehicle safety checks, reporting vehicle faults and servicerequirements to your line manager
Responsiblefor regular cleaning of the vehicles including routine checks on oil and water
Complete a daily log sheet of the vehicles usage and submit to the line manager
Demonstrateadherence to road traffic regulations
Reportany changes in driving status (ie. points or disqualifications) to line managerimmediately
Collect/returnreplacement vehicles to/from and liaising with hire companies as instructed
Undertakeany other duties as may be required or instructed
Thedriver role is integral to the Smile Together team. The driver will be requiredto assist with general ad hoc duties when requested and when there is anydowntime in the role
